Asia s 1st Community-based Augmented Reality Eco iPledge! On 11th May 2013, in conjunction with the official opening of Woodlands Galaxy Community Club, Woodlands has invited GOH Prime Minister Mr Lee Hsien Loong to launch Asia s 1st Community-based Augmented Reality Eco iPledge. By youth, for community; against all odds from a dream to fruition - this one-year project is spearheaded by Mr Pan Zhengxiang Jedi together with a group of passionate youths from Woodlands. Every photo taken is a pledge to keep Singapore clean and green as the innovative mobile application creatively promotes community engagement and cohesion through digital pledging. A highlight of the digital pledge is where residents have the opportunity to have their pledge photos taken with our Augmented Reality models of Ms Ellen Lee Geck Hoon, PBM (MP for Sembawang GRC, Woodlands)). Eco iPledge innovation is also designed with social features to enable residents to share their pledge photos on Facebook, Twitter and emails. The launch of Eco iPledge in Year 2013 is not coincidental but deliberate. The youth team discovered that our Founding Prime Minister and nation s chief gardener Mr Lee Kuan Yew had planted a Mempat tree in Farrer Circus in June 1963 to signify the start of an island-wide tree planting campaign, with the vision to build a clean and green Singapore. This year, Woodlands seeks to celebrate the 50 years Golden Jubilee of clean and green Singapore with Eco-iPledge. This technological innovation is Asia s first community-based augmented reality to promote environmental friendliness. Eco iPledge also seeks to forge social and community bonding to keep Singapore Clean and Green. More Eco iPledge pledging booths will be set up at various Woodlands Grassroots activities venues including the Woodlands CC, the Woodlands Galaxy CC and RCs to raise awareness of keeping our Singapore clean and green.
